5月4日、レダ基地において、第6回パクー稚魚放流式を挙行しました。テレビや新聞の報道を見た人々より、祝意のメッセージが続々と寄せられ、この行事がパラグアイ社会に対し、今までになく大きなインパクトを与えたことが伺えます。今やチャコ地方における年中行事として、すっかり定着したパクー稚魚の放流。稚魚が川に棲む敵から身を守るためには、できるだけその魚体が大きく成長するのを待つ方が有利です。その上で、ほとんどの淡水魚の活動が低下する冬（6月～8月）の直前にあたる、毎年5月のこの時期に放流をしています。

式典は午前9時半過ぎ、カトリック司教の祈祷によって始まりました。FFWPU中南米会長に続いて、中田実所長が挨拶に立ち、「パラグアイは世界平和のモデル国家となることを神様から期待されていて、ここに集まった人たちは　神様が準備したパラグアイの義人たちです」と述べると、会場から大きな拍手が起こりました。次いでアスンシオン国立大学の獣医学部長、バイアネグラ市長の挨拶、日本から駆け付けた中田理事長の挨拶、下院議員を代表してデルピラール氏の挨拶、先住民コミュニティ代表の挨拶、日本の国会議員からの祝辞代読、マグノ教授が学術的観点から今回の放流の意義の説明があり、最後にフランコ夫妻が挨拶しました。

その後、全員が歩いてパラグアイ川の放流現場に移動しました。マグノ教授がパクー稚魚放流の経緯と意義を説明し、来賓たちが袋やバケツに入ったパクーの稚魚を次々と放流しました。初めて魚を放流をする人も多く、どなたも楽しそうに放流していたのが印象的でした。ここで、マグノ教授はテレビクルーの取材を受けました。

これまで成された6回の放流式は、首都アスンシオンや地元チャコの人々が、レダのプロジェクトと触れる唯一の機会でした。こんな辺鄙なところで日本人が地道な努力をして、様々なプロジェクトに挑戦し、近隣の村々に貢献しているという事実が、訪問者たちはもとより、多くの人々に感銘を与えてきました。その輪が次第に広がって、今は多くの人が訪れてみたいというレダの地になっています。今回も、ご支援をくださった皆様方、尽力された関係者の皆様方、現地スタッフと青年たちに深く感謝いたします。

		放流場の準備 They prepare a little pier and the banner for the event. This is a junction point of a branch stream (riacho) and the main stream of the Paraguay. レダ基地を流れるリアチョと、パラグアイ川本流との出合。ここに突き出た岬の先端に稚魚を放流します。マグノ教授の指導によるものです。
		乗客定員20人のミリタリー機 A 20-passenger airplane of the Air Force. It works hard for the shuttle of 60 passengers from the early morning of this special day. 早朝アスンシオンからの来賓を降ろした後、直ちにオリンポに2往復し、近隣のゲストを運んできました。放流式後は、これと逆の順序で飛び、大活躍しました。
		フランコ前大統領の家族と Former President Federico Franco, Senator Emilia Alfaro de Franco, their son Mr. Luis Federico Franco (Congressperson) and other VIPs welcomed by Mr. Nakata and another Mr. Nakata! フランコ前大統領（サングラス）、同夫人（上院議員）、子息（下院議員）を、中田欣宏理事長（左）、中田実所長（その右）、ほかが出迎える。

		応接室で歓談のひと時 VIPs have a familiar talk with Leda staff in the reception room with coffee and sandwiches. レダ基地に到着後、放流式典が始まるまで、応接室で軽食を取ってもらいながら、基地スタッフと歓談しました。軽食はサンドイッチで、遠方から早朝出てこられた来賓たち全員に召し上がってもらい、好評でした。
		放流式典会場 Attendants of the Sixth Pacú Fry Planting Ceremony held in the Seminar House. 放流式典は、セミナーハウス2階の大講堂で行われました。午前9時半、間もなく告げられる開会を前に集った参加者たち。
		フランコ夫妻とガオナ司教（右） Bishop Rafael Ruiz Gaona (right) and Mr. and Mrs. President Franco at the Ceremony. The ceremony starts with the National Anthem and the Bishop's prayer. 国歌斉唱に続き、ガオナ司教の祝祷により式典が始まり、各VIPが挨拶に立ちました。
		フランコ氏が挨拶 "In Chaco we have a new hope of Paraguay. Rev. Moon's vision is not wrong. From the seas he finds a solution to the world food problem. The FDSANS is one of the best foundations for public welfare." フランコ氏は、文先生ご夫妻の名前を上げて感謝の意を表し、チャコ地方の開発を通じてパラグアイが世界に貢献できるということ、そこを太平洋、大西洋につなげる拠点としようという持論を述べられました。

		♪ コンドルは飛んで行く Ms. Yamaguchi plays "El Condor Passa" with her recorder accompanied with the guitarist to charm all attendants. 山口さんの奏でるリコーダーとギターの伴奏による「コンドルは飛んで行く」は、会場をすっかり魅了してしまうほどのハイレベルな演奏でした。
		♪ ソーラン Young Japanese perform the dynamic dance "Soran" a traditional Japanese song and dance to encourage fishermen. They call: "DOKKOISHO! DOKKOISHO!" and "SORAN! SORAN!" 続いて青年全員が勇壮な「ソーラン」を踊りました。♪ ドッコイショ！ドッコイショ！ソーラン！ソーラン！
		♪ カントリーロード Then, they sing "Take Me Home, Country Roads" in comfortable harmony. Their unexpected dancing and singing give the audience a most fresh impression. 引き続き、「カントリーロード」を歌いました。いずれも見ごたえ、聴きごたえのあるもので、参加者たちの心に新鮮な感動を与えたと思います。
		放流場へ歩く All attendants walk to the release point of fry. This is the runway, by the way. 式典を終えて、稚魚放流の現場まで、全員が徒歩で移動しました。写真の広い道は、飛行機の滑走路です。
		マグノ教授が放流の説明 Professor Magno Barreto of the National University of Asunción briefly lectures on the significance and history of farming and planting pacú into the River. アスンシオン国立大学獣医学部のマグノ教授が、パクー稚魚放流の経緯と意義を説明しました。

		次々と放流 Go and grow big, babies! 来賓たちが袋やバケツに入ったパクーの稚魚を次々と放流しました。
		楽しく放流 Most of them plant fish in a river for the first time. They all enjoy sending off little baby fish. 初めて魚の放流を経験する人も多く、どなたも楽しそうに放流していたのが印象的でした。
		取材を受けるマグノ教授 Congress TV crew interview Professor Magno. Thanks to the speedy media, people all around the nation come to know the news by the very evening. ここで、マグノ教授はテレビクルーの取材を受けました。マグノ教授は、レダ基地におけるパクーの養殖が始まった当初より、何度もレダ基地に赴いて、その人工孵化と養殖技術を指導してこられました。
		興味津々 Adults and children are attracted by young pacú swimming in an aquarium. 大人も子供も、水槽内のパクーを興味深く見つめていました。
		エビ養殖研究所 Mr. Minoru Nakata comments on the aquiculture of prawn (Macrobrachium rosenbergii). Many guests get interested in the new project already started in Leda. 青いテントの下で、オニテナガエビの養殖研究をしています。中田実所長による新しい取り組みの説明に、多くの来賓が大きな関心を示しました。

		オニテナガエビ This species of freshwater prawn grows in the sea water when very young. The Pantanal Research Institute finds the underground salty water of Puerto Leda potentially ideal for their growth. オニテナガエビは稚エビ期に汽水域で成長し、やがて淡水で生活します。海水と同じ成分を含むレダの地下水を利用することで、エビが短期間で大きく育ち、稚エビを運んだマグノ教授も感動していました。
		レダの産物を試食 Guests enjoy trying various fish products and cooked taro which Mr. Keizo Kobashi has developed in the Pantanal Research Institute. その後、パンタナール研究所内で小橋さんが開発したパクーの魚肉加工食品やタロイモ料理を試食してもらうと、皆さん、満足そうにほお張っていました。
		楽しい昼食会 All guests enjoy lunch in and out of the dining hall. On the tables are Leda's products such as pacú, taro, beef, pork, etc. 最後は恒例の昼食会。パクー料理、タロイモ料理、牛や豚の肉料理など、レダ産の新鮮な食材を用いたごちそうを食べながら、楽しく談笑しました。この昼食会の準備には、中井夫人が1週間前からレダに来て尽力しました。
		台所スタッフをねぎらうフランコ父子 Father and Son Franco compliment the kitchen staff on their good service. Those ladies are our longtime cooks from indigenous communities. レダの台所スタッフも、この日のために大きな仕事をしました。彼女たちは先住民で、長年レダ基地で調理を担当してきた腕利きばかりです。台所まで行って、彼女たちを親しくねぎらうフランコ父子でした。

		オリンポからの来賓 Guests from Fuerte Olimpo. The military plane makes eight flights between Fuerte Olimpo and Puerto Leda for the shuttle of forty Olimpian guests. オリンポからの来賓たちは、20人ずつに分けて、午前と午後の各2回、このミリタリー機でレダまで往復しました。
		フランコ夫妻の家族を見送る They see off the Francos. アスンシオンに帰るフランコ夫妻とフランコジュニアを見送ります。今回は、乗客5人乗りのセスナを3機使いました。
		翌日のabc新聞１面記事 Asunción-based nationwide daily "abc" reports the event the next morning. The good news is a big print on the top page and detailed on page 24. 「100,000匹のパクーがパラグアイ川に」の大見出しで、1面と24面とに詳しく放送されました。この記事と、テレビニュースとを見たパラグアイ人たちから電話、メール、SNS等による祝意のメッセージが殺到し、スタッフたちはびっくりしたと言います。
		青年たちが壁を塗装 Young people work very actively behind the scenes: cleaning, fixing, painting, various odd jobs, serving meals and everything to support the event. 今回の放流式に当たり、日本から来た若者たちが、裏方で大活躍しました。

		パンタナール研究所に壁画 A young man paints pacú, shrimp, and taro on the wall of the Pantanal Research Institute. パクー、エビ、タロイモを描いています。若者たちは、さまざまに創造性を発揮して行きました。
		若者たちが勢ぞろいでお見送り Leda is full of fresh air. Creative young men and women not only revitalize old timers, but also inherit the spirit of pioneering and the tradition. Let's hope for alteration of generations for the multi-century project. 来賓たちも、年配のスタッフも、この若者たちから毎日新鮮な刺激を受けました。今後も若者をどんどん迎えたいと、工夫をしながら待っています。
